Blue Skies Village

A Little History

Nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in Rancho Mirage, California, is the small community of Blue Skies Village.  It was originally founded by Bing Crosby in the 1950s as a weekend get-away and playground for his many Hollywood movie star friends.  They came, relaxed, and put on elaborate and extravagant events and parties.  They brought with them for special events many movie props which still remain today as facades on some of the homes here.  Our streets are named after these movie stars who had weekend homes here, including Barbara Stanwyck, Danny Kaye, and Jack Benny, and our village was named by Bing Crosby after his song "Blue Skies".

Today, our homes are no longer owned by movie stars but regular year-round residents and "snowbirds" who spend the sunny winters here and enjoy the park's many perks, including a community clubhouse with a full kitchen for potlucks and parties,  social activities like aquasize in the salt-water pool, cribbage games, bingo, annual themed parties, movie nights, and Super Bowl parties, to name a few.
